I could have followed the somewhat nautical theme I’ve got going here by calling this area ‘Buried Treasure’, but I decided that was a bit naff. I certainly think that some of the things/tools/people I am going to reference in here are treasures. I hope you might come to feel the same way about some of them, too.

If I haven’t got the point across elsewhere, here is the place for me to be upfront and say: I am an information junkie. When I first Stumbled (literally, in the internet sense) over the quote by Lord Thomson of Fleet – in which he declared: “I have a magpie mind. I like anything that glitters” - I knew I had found a kindred soul. That’s the good thing about being made this way; I can discover my Right People in any century, in any language.

Most especially, of course, I can discover them (you?) through the wonders of the Interwebz. On my old desktop here in my office, I have an insanely large number of Favourites filed in my browser. My feed reader regularly drops post-size gems of goodness into my lap; Stumbleupon, Digg and, most recently, Twitter deliver the goods in terms of winnowing out gloriously shiny pieces of information (and tools, and people)  that appeal to this little magpie.

This area of my site will always be a work in progress, as I add, subtract, refine and update. Feel free to help, by contributing suggestions, pointing out flawed links, or just jumping up and down with excitement at some little bauble you’ve found glittering in my nest. It’s all good.
